Goa Medical College and Hospital is expected to be renovated soon, with the estimated cost of the project to be around Rs 5 crore. There have been questions raised related to the quality of the infrastructure of the medical college hospital. The Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) has immediately come to the rescue, ensuring to renovate and maintain the complex of the medical college hospital.

GSIDC now plans to give a face lift to the medical college hospital, by carrying necessary repairs on-premise. The renovation work will be done on hospitals and health centre's under the jurisdiction of the Goa Medical College.

GSIDC has recently sought bids from companies for undertaking minor maintenance and renovation works at Goa Medical College and Hospital. The work has to be completed in the next 12 months by the selected company; right after the date the company is appointed. The estimated project amount is Rs 4.87 crore. The last date for submission of bids is July 21. The bids will be opened for scrutiny on July 25.

"The bidder should have a valid registration for e-tendering and should have, in the last seven years, successfully completed, as a prime contractor, similar maintenance works or building works of an aggregate value not less than 146.13 lakh," the tender stated, as accessed by TOI.

"The value of executed works shall be brought to current costing level by enhancing the actual value of work at a simple rate of 7% per annum; calculated from the date of completion to last date of submission of e-tenders," the tender added.

Deputy chief minister and health minister Francis D'Souza said the building housing the lecture hall would be pulled down shortly.
