GMC Pudukottai to start DNB Emergency Medicine with 2 seats; gets NBE nod
The DNB course in Emergency Medicine will begin from this academic year of 2019-20 at GMC Pudukottai. The MBBS doctors who had completed their one-year house surgery period on or before March 31, 2019, can apply
Pudukottai: The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has recently given its nod to offer a Post Graduate, PG medical course in Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Emergency Medicine at the Government Medical College (GMC) in Pudukottai.
The permission was granted to the Medical College after the inspection conducted by the NBE in February this year. The inspection was done by an NBE member, Dr Harsha D Makwana from Ahmedabad after which it was noted that the Medical College had adequate infrastructure to offer the DNB course.
Based on the said recommendation, the Medical College was provided permission to begin the course. The Board gave its permission to the medical college to initiate the DNB course with two seats in Emergency Medicine.

The DNB course will begin from this academic year of 2019-20. The MBBS doctors who had completed their one-year house surgery period on or before March 31, 2019, can apply for the course at the Medical College.
The Dean of Government Medical College Pudukottai, AL Meenakshi Sundaram, informed that an entrance examination to this course would be held at an All-India level, reports the Hindu.
The GMC Pudukottai, affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, was one of the first Medical Colleges in the state to receive permission to admit 150 students in its first year of commencement in the MBBS Course.
The NBE is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It was established as a Society under Delhi Society registration act, to standardizing postgraduate medical education and examination in the country. The NBE has the authority to give recognition to offer a degree in DNB Course in the Medical Colleges.
