Eluru to get GMCH with 100 MBBS seats, AP CM lays foundation stone

Eluru: The city of Eluru in Andhra Pradesh is soon going to see an establishment of a government medical college and hospital with 100 MBBS seats.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy recently the foundation stone for the construction of Government Medical College here.

The government had already issued a Government Order sanctioning Rs 285 crore for setting up the medical college. Rs 20 crore had already been released for the same. The establishment of the medical college also met the Medical Council of India (MCI) initial nod after the district administration allotted 25 acres of land for the purpose of setting up the said medical college

The medical college will be started with 100 MBBS seats. The college is coming up on the premises of the 518-bed government hospital which has all the required facilities like modern equipment, ICU, and several other blocks as mandated by the MCI. With the foundation stone being laid, the premises will see developments of medical college essentials including lecture halls, library, admin block, hostel for medicos as well as other buildings.

While laying the foundation stone, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also launched YSR Vahana Mitra, a scheme intended to provide financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to auto, taxi and maxi cab drivers-cum-owners.
