Dr Aruna Kumar takes charge as New Dean of Gandhi Medical College

Bhopal: All set to take up major responsibilities, Dr Aruna Kumar has been appointed as the new Dean of Gandhi Medical College (GMC) replacing Dr M C Songara. Earlier, she held the post of head of Gynaecology Department in Gandhi Medical College.

Dr Kumar has served the Gandhi medical college for 29 long years working as a faculty member since 1990.

Talking to the Hitavada, she mentioned that improving health facility is her top priority. She added that she would work ensuring that GMC gains academic excellence. Not just that she even want to ensure that GMC can serve the best care and can work for the super speciality care centres. She considers it an opportunity to return back what she owes to GMC by rendering her finest service.

Besides in the same order, Dr T N Dubey was appointed the new Dean of Vidisha Medical College. Dr TN Dubey was Head of Neurology Department at Government Hamidia Hospital. However, Dr Dubey informed that he is not going to join as Dean at Vidhisha since he has already turned down the post

Dr Dubey has a rich experience of 21 years in the field of neurology. He is currently handling the position of HOD (Medicine) in Gandhi Medical College and consultant neurologist at Hamidia Hospital, Bhopal. He has done DM (Neurology) from PGIMER, Chandigarh.

The appointments were made after a selection panel was formed consisting of Divisional Commissioner, Kavindra Kiyawat, Director of Medical Education, Dr Ulka Shrivastava and former Dean of Gandhi Medical College Dr Bhunu Dubey.

Out of the seven candidates who applied for the post, Dr Aruna Kumar and Dr T N Dubey were selected for their respective post. The selection was purely on merit basis through an open recruitment procedure and selected by the scrutiny committee.

As per The Hitavada, Dr Aruna Kumar took charge on 11th December 2018.
