Doctor duped of Rs 36 lakhs on promise of MBBS seat for ward, 4 arrested on court order

Nagpur: Four persons have been arrested by the Pachpaoli police on court orders after a doctor moved the court against the four accusing them of duping him of Rs 36.6 lakh under the promise of providing an MBBS seat for his son at a medical college.

As per the police officials, Dr Kaikade wanted his son to take MBBS admission in a medical college and become a doctor. However, his son secured low marks in NEET.

After finding no other alternative, the doctor decided to get MBBS admission under the management quota and started to look for an agent who could provide an MBBS seat. Later, he came in contact with an agent by his acquaintance.

He told the agents about the situation. The agents promised the MBBS seat at a Nashik-based medical college and asked for money in return.

It has been suggested in the Nagpur Today's report that an agreement was signed between the agent and the doctor implying that if his son somehow doesn't get the MBBS seat as promised, the agents will have to, return back the money.

The doctor paid Rs 36.6 lakh to the agents but still, his son didn't acquire the seat.

Disappointed, the doctor demanded his money back but he was returned only Rs 5 lakh and the rest, the agents were refusing to pay. After realizing that he was being cheated, the doctor, on the basis of the agreement, approached the court against the accused.

Subsequently, the police nabbed the four agents and registered an offence of fraud on December 16 for cheating the doctor, reports Nagpur Today.

Medical Dialogues had recently reported about one such case where an Andhra-Pradesh doctor was cheated of Rs 8 lakh by an educational consultancy, which had promised MBBS admission for his son at any of the reputed medical colleges in Karnataka.
