Coimbatore Medical College get a PG seat hike from the MCI

COIMBATORE: Four Departments of Coimbatore Medical College have been granted 10 additional seats by the Medical Council of India(MCI), for the academic year 2017-18. An official notification has been received by the college from the apex education regulator for the same.


The (MR) Radio Diagnosis seats have been increased from two to five and an additional four have been added to (MS) Obstetrics and Gynaecology, raising the number from four to eight. (MS) Orthopaedics and (MD) Paediatrics have also witnessed a raise from six to eight and three to four respectively.


The MCI in a recent bid had also granted an additional 16 seats for (MS) General Surgery, (MD) Dermatology, Venerology and Leprology, as well as, (MD) Anaesthesiology, for the academic year 2017-18, to the college, reports the Hindu.


With this, the CMCs total PG count of seats rises to 26, for the academic year 2017-18.
