Chandigarh: 71 additional MS, MD seats nod to PGIMS

Chandigarh: Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences,(PGIMS) Rohtak has been given a 71 additional seat nod for MD and MS courses, as announced by Haryana Health Minister, Anil Vij recently. The additions comes as an effort in the direction to meet up with the existing paucity of doctors, he stated.


Following is the seat break up: MD anesthesiology-26; MD paediatrics-9; MS obstetrics and gynaecology-8; MD psychiatry-8; MD radio diagnosis-6; MS orthopaedics-5; MD ophthalmology-5; MD dermatology-2; MD venereology-2; MD leprosy-2; MD respiratory medicine-2.


The state government had earlier increased the MBBS seat count from a 100 to 150 at Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women, Khanpur Kalan, District -Sonepat.


CCTV installations:


166 health centers are to have CCTV installations to ensure safety and patient treatment. The Health Minister informed that 792 cameras would find place at 36 sub-divisional hospitals, 960 in district civil hospitals, and 2,420 in 110 community health centers of the state.


Tenders have already been invited for these installations.


The camera installations are not only meant to check theft from happening but also keep an eye on doctor behavior towards their patients. The minister said the installations would also help in providing information on treatments being given to patients and misbehavior, if any, against doctors by anti social elements.
