Baripada Medical College still awaits Govt nod to start functioning
Baripada/Koraput: The Chief Minister’s letter to the Union Health Minister, JP Nadda to approve Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada for commencement of session for the year 2017-18, has definitely run into trouble. The Baripada Medical College has come up against infrastructural shortcomings in the eyes of the Assembly Committee that visited the college for an inspection.
The college which is yet to be issued a 'Letter of Permission' (LoP), has received a setback already, as the visiting panel found infrastructural shortcomings, in the form of construction of certain blocks having been completed. The panel held discussions with the authorities and the district administration.
The compliance asked for by the MCI for Baripada MCH, during its last visit on December 22, 2016 has not been met with. Therefore, chances of an academic session commencing for the year 2017-18 seem dismal.
The Koraput Shaheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital ‘s LoP is on its way as the government plans to commence its academic session for 2017-18. However the date of beginning class would depend on the 'LoP' being received by the authorities. The college already has MCI approval to begin class for the year 2017-18. The MCH, Koraput is to be affiliated to Berhampur University, under Section 10A of the IMC Act, 1956 for the current session reports Indian Express.
