All colleges will then assess the number of seats remaining vacant and students will be asked to lock their choices for Round II of all-India counselling on September 9 and 10. The general category cut-off for all-India quota seats was 468-685 marks in the first round. However, students who have secured rank till 7,000 are expected to get seats in the second round of all-India counselling, said Bipin Kumar Singh, director of a coaching institute in Patna.

Interestingly on Saturday, a section of medical aspirants staged a protest outside KPC Medical College and Hospital after names of 77 selected candidates were published . There complaint being that despite having a better rank than those published they had been denied admission.

"The admission procedure which was followed by the hospital is faulty. They have selected the first 77 candidates who could afford to pay a higher fee and not on merit. The agitated students initially demanded to meet the principal which was denied. Now, we have decided to move the court on Monday. My All India Rank is 28000. I have a category rank of 10000. The merit list doesn't mention the category like OBC, PD or SC, ST, of any selected candidates and only their rank. Moreover, the last person on merit list has got a 174468 category rank. Then how can I be denied of admission?" questioned Subhankar Dey, a medical candidate, reports TOI
