547 PG Diploma Seats RE-NOTIFIED for NEET PG 2019 counselling: Ministry of Health

These seats will be available for NEET PG 2019 counselling

New Delhi: Coming to the rescue of thousands of PG medical aspirants, who were losing out due to de-notification of the PG diploma courses, but not getting a commensurate increase in PG Medical degree Courses, the Union Health Ministry has recently re-notified 547 seats in various diploma courses at 54 medical colleges across the country

The ministry noted that terms of the Medical Council of India (MCl)'s Amendment Notification No.MCll8( l)/2018-Med./ l22294 dated 12.07.201 8, the Ministry has restricted recognition of various diploma courses in respect of students admitted up to the academic year 2018- 19, of various medical colleges/institution enabling the medical colleges/institutions to seek equal number of PG (MD/MS) seats by surrendering recognized diploma seats in corresponding courses.

Accordingly, the Notifications restricting recognition of the diploma courses were issued by the Ministry and forwarded to the Board of Governors-Medical Council of India (BoG-MCl) along with undertaking(s) of the medical colleges/institutions for taking further action as per Notification dated 12.07.2018 issued by MCl.

However,, the Board of Governors in Supersession of Medical Council of India (BoGMCI) has brought to the notice of the Ministry that due to the variety of reasons, some diploma courses which were de-notified could not be converted to degree seats by BoG-MCl.

The Ministry noted that as a consequence of non-conversion of diploma seats, there will be depletion of PG seats during the counselling for the current academic year 2019-20. Hence the Ministry has now considered re-notifying the following diploma seats which were not converted into degree seats in respect of the colleges/courses mentioned against each in the Table below for their inclusion in the counselling for the academic year 2019-20:-
