50 additional MBBS seats at Faridkot Medical College get MCI approval

Faridkot: The apex education regulator (MCI) has given its approval to 50 more MBBS seats at the state-run Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot. The total strength of MBBS seats will now increase to a 100.


Dr Deepak J Bhatty, Principal revealed that the Executive Committee of MCI has recommended recognition and approval of 50 additional seats to the central government.


“The MCI carried out an assessment of the college and hospital in December 2017 and January 2018 to check the standard of examinations held by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) and weigh up the facilities available,” the Principal told the HT


On February 6, the Executive Committee of MCI considered the assessment report and approval of the oversight committee was granted on February 23.
