39 percent posts vacant in Tanda Medical college

Shimla: BJP MLA from Nurpur Rakesh Pathania condemned his own party government for not filling 39 per cent post vacant in Dr Rajinder Prasad Medical College Tanda in Kangra district.


He alleged that patients are being referred to health Institutions in Punjab frequently which show the illegal nexus between private hospital and staff and doctors of medical college.


Raising the issue during Question Hour, Mr Pathania pointed out that since the minister concerned himself hailed from the same district, he must be aware of the said affairs being the in charge of the department.


He said that three patients are sharing a bed and hospital staff has established an illegal channel with the private hospital at Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Jalandhar to refer the patients as there is the nexus between doctor and private hospitals.


Cancer patients had to wait for months for chemotherapy as there were no technicians to run the sophisticated equipment.


Replying to a query by Rakesh Pathania on the huge vacancies at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) and Tanda Medical College, Health and Family Welfare Minister Vipin Parmar said efforts were being made to appoint doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other para-medical staff.


He said that the new government provided 75 per cent staff in the medical colleges including 57 per cent doctor 52 paramedics and 22 per cent of nurses. He said that the process of recruitment of 173 pharmacists and 135 radiologists. He said that advance facility like Cardio Thoracic Vascular Surgery (CTVS) has established in the hospital so patients could avail facility within the medical college. For starting open heart surgery at Tanda following facilities are required posting of two more Cardiac Thoracic Vascular Surgeons. Doctors and anaesthetist need to be trained for open heart surgery.
