Jabalpur: The 25 admissions made in the MBBS course under the NRI category at Shakshi Medical College and Research Centre (SMCRC), Guna, for the year 2016-17 are to be cancelled as per the directive of the Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University (MPMSU).

The directive issued on Thursday comes after the university asked the government and private colleges to submit detailed information on admissions under the NRI quota. The colleges were to comply immediately; however, only 3 responded, Sakshi being one of them.

Vice Chancellor, MPMSU, R K Sharma told TOI, that colleges had given illegal admissions under the NRI quota.

"SMCRC gave admissions to students at their own level without any allotment letters from the directorate of medical education (DME). There is no evidence that these 25 students even appeared for the common entrance test," said Sharma, adding that he has show-caused the institute.

The Medical Universities directive comes in response to the Medical Council asking the institute to dismiss the batch of 25, who gained admission under the NRI quota. These include 8 names that are absent from the DME list and 17 who were not on the Institute’s first list, released on November 22, 2016, reports TOI.
