105 Ayurveda, 39 Homeopathy, 9 Unani and 2 Siddha colleges approved in Past three years: AYUSH Minister
NEW DELHI: 40 new proposals for opening AYUSH colleges are under process with the government, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik informed the Parliament, adding that 155 AYUSH colleges including 2 National Institutions have been opened in the country in the past three years
The information to this effect was given by the minister of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga,Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy through a written reply in Rajya Sabha
In the recent session of parliament, MP Dr Ashok Bajpai questioned the ministry of AYUSH about "the number of new colleges opened for Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Yoga, Naturopathy, and Unani during the last three years, State-wise"
He further questioned about "the number of proposals pending with Government for the opening of new AYUSH colleges?"
Responding to which the minister replied that "A total of 155 new AYUSH colleges (including 2 National Institutes) have been opened in the country during the last three years". He added that "A total of 40 proposals for opening of new AYUSH colleges are under process/ pending with the Government".
Total of 155 colleges are opened in last 3 years with 105 in Ayurveda, 39 in Homeopathy, 9 in Unani and 2 in Sidha. Uttar Pradesh topped the list in opening of 43 new AYUSH colleges, followed by Gujrat with 32 new colleges. The state of Karnataka added 18 AYUSH colleges in the past three years, while states of Maharastra, MP, and Punjab added 16,9, and 5 new colleges
No new AYUSH colleges were added in Assam, Puducherry, Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar in the past three years, the reply pointed out.
