10 New Medical Colleges given approval for year 2017-18, 1300 MBBS seats added
10 new medical colleges across the country have manage to get the Letter of Permission for Establishment of New Medical colleges. With this 1300 MBBS seats shall be added for the academic year 2017-18
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has granted the permission to states to establishment of new medical colleges for the academic year 2017-18.
The ministry has clarified that the said permission of the Central Government is accorded initially for a period of one year and will be renewed on yearly basis subject to verification of achievement of annual targets as indicated in your scheme. This process of renewal of permission will continue till such time the infrastructure and expansion of hospital facilities are completed as per norms of Medical Council of India. The next batch of students shall be admitted only after obtaining permission of the Central Government.
It has also been specified that the Government Medical Colleges (except those located in J&K, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana States) shall contribute 15 percent of MBBS seats for which this LOP is granted for all India quota.
Admissions made in violation of the above conditions will be treated as irregular and action under IMC Act, 1956 & Regulations made there under will be initiated. Discrepancies, if any, may be brought to the notice of MCI and Central Government.
