Allegations of sexual harassment: Friends of MBBS medico beat up Associate Professor

Nellore: In a meeting with the Nellore Government General Hospital superintendent, an associate professor of ACSR medical college was taken by surprise when Kin and friends of a female student entered the room and after a heated argument hurled blows at him for having sexually harassed the girl medico.

The violent incident where the associate professor bled led to tension in the college. The grave allegations have been made by a final year student of the ACSR Government medical college and allege to have been sexually harassed by the Associate Professor, .

“When I attended for surgery postings at demo room, Associate Professor Chandrasekhar misbehaved with me. He tried to sexually assault me. He was involved in such attempts on some other students too,” the final-year student alleged to the New Indian Express.

It is believed that she did take the matter to the authorities in the form of a complaint, however, the authorities turned a deaf ear to her. This made her turn to her friends and relatives.

On Thursday when the professor was amidst senior faculty of the two colleges, discussing the oncoming youth festival, the relatives and friends of the medical students barged and started an endless argument which ended in blows and several head injuries.

A friend of the girl is alleged to have attacked the AP despite other professor’s intervention. Her reported blows on the doctor left him with bleeding injuries. He was later taken into custody when the police reached the incident spot and took her into custody.

“When we are in a meeting with associate professors and other staff, the relatives of the final-year student suddenly entered the meeting hall and argued with Chandrasekhar. One of the youngsters attacked Chandrasekhar,” said Radha Krishna, Nellore GGH Superintendent to TNIE.

Meanwhile, more students have come forward since the attack, to lodge complaints against the teacher to the principal as per another report. The Medical College authorities have constituted a committee to probe the allegations against him that he had been sexually harassing girl students for the past two years.
