    AIIMS, Nagpur to start MBBS admissions this academic year, gets JIPMER as Mentor Institute

    AIIMS, Nagpur to start MBBS admissions this academic year, gets JIPMER as Mentor Institute

    Nagpur: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur is all set to take off in the coming academic year. Advertisements by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare are out for the posts of the Institute’s Director and teaching staff along with admissions to the medical college.


    TOI repots that Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, has been assigned the role of ‘mentor institute’ for AIIMS, Nagpur. 52 teaching posts for the Nagpur institute have been advertised. March 16, 2018, is the last date of filing applications for the posts.


    The posts include eight professors in basic non-clinical subjects like biochemistry, community medicine, pathology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, forensic medicine, and toxicology. The other posts advertised include eight professors, four additional professors, four associate professors, 16 lecturers or assistant professors, twelve residents and eight tutors or demonstrators.


    The advertisement makes a special mention of two of these posts having been reserved for persons with disabilities. All other posts are open to the unreserved (UR) category. This has aggravated the reserved category teachers of the state who want to apply for the posts.


    The Director ‘s position was advertised on December 3 last year, and the last date for filing an application for it was 45 days from publication of the advertisement, which was February 12. 62 years happens to be the upper age limit for this position reported TOI.


    The entrance examination advertisement for the nine AIIMS at Bhubaneshwar, Rishikesh, Raipur, Delhi, Patna, Jodhpur, Guntur (Mangalgiri), and Nagpur was issued on February 1. The online examination of 3 hours duration will be held on May 26 and 27. To be held in two shifts (9 am to 12.30pm, and 3 pm to 6.30pm) across various centers in the country, the exam website: aiimsexams.org can be visited by students seeking more information.


    The Government Medical College and Hospital(GMCH), acting as the host college till the AIIMS premises at Mihan is ready, will accommodate the students, laboratories and quarters as well.


    The college has already arranged for classes in the API Hall for 50 students and three laboratories. The student hostels have been arranged in the Dental College Hostel for boys, and the girls are to be accommodated in the Nursing Hostel. A separate entry/ exit for AIIMS is also being arranged.
