891 total proposals for PG Medical Courses received by Health Ministry, ZERO from Punjab, Haryana
The capital New Delhi has sent 15 proposals to the centre, while the state of Gujarat has only sent 9. States including Punjab, Haryana and Goa UT did not send any proposals to the central government, the appendix containing the state-wise details showed
New Delhi: Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has received 891 proposals/applications from the existing Medical Colleges for the opening/increase of seats in Post Graduate Courses for the academic year 2019-20, the MOS for Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recently informed the parliament.
The minister was responding to the question raised by Members of Parliament (LS) Dr Ratna De ( Nag), Shri Manoj Tiwari and Shri Hari Om Pandey in this regard. The MPs had asked for details of proposals received by the government to increase the number of seats for medical PG courses in the country, State-wise.
The MOS health replied that 891 such proposals had been received by the government for the year 2019-2020, adding that the Ministry is also implementing a scheme for strengthening/ upgradation of existing State Government/Central Government Medical Colleges to increase PG seats.
The last date for granting approval for the increasing number of PG seats for 2019-20 is 28.02.2019, the minister added.
Of the total proposals received, the maximum number of proposals have been sent by the Karnataka with 138 proposals, followed by Andhra Pradesh with 112 proposals and Maharashtra with 105 proposals
