86 employee appointments at Gaya Medcial College cancelled

Gaya: 86 employee appointments of Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH) were cancelled by the state government, on Friday, for having been allegedly appointed in violation of appointment norms and reservation rules. According to sources members of the selection committee and the principal might also be shown the door.

All these appointments were made in two batches in December 2016 and June 2017.The alleged illegal appointments seemed to have caused an uproar, leading to the Divisional Commissioner, Jitendra Srivastav appointing a three-member committee to examine the legality of the appointments. The Committee discovered the appointment process and selection of candidates carried out in an unfair manner taking away an opportunity from the more deserving.

The Divisional Commissioner on investigation forwarded the report to the Health Department, which, in ordered cancellation of all the appointments. Sources say that the government has demanded compliance within a week.

ANMMCH, Principal, S P Mahto said the process to the compliance was already underway leading to cancellation of appointments. Service termination order would soon be issued he added. Defending the controversial appointments, the Principal said, "No irregularity was committed during the entire appointment process and everything was done fairly and as per rules," he said.

According to the Principal, the findings of the Inquiry Committee had been ‘unilateral’ in nature, as the Selection Committee members were not given a chance to explain, reports TOI.
