AIIMS Manethi will have 100 MBBS seats and 60 BSc Nursing seats. The 750-bedded institute will have 15-20 Super Specialty Departments.

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its approval to the establishment of a new branch of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Manethi, District Rewari, Haryana at a cost of Rs. 1299 crore.

The Union Cabinet has given ‘in principle’ nod to the Implementation of Master Plan to convert AIIMS New Delhi into a world class Medical University.

AIIMS Manethi will have 100 MBBS seats and 60 BSc Nursing seats. The 750-bedded institute will have 15-20 Super Specialty Departments.

“As per data of current functional AIIMS, it is expected that each new AIIMS would cater to around 1,500 Out Patient Departments (OPD),” Union Minister Arun Jaitley stated while informing about the cabinet decision.

AIIMS Manethi will have a hospital with a capacity of 750 beds which will include emergency/trauma beds, AYUSH beds, private beds and ICU speciality & super speciality beds. In addition, there will be a medical college, AYUSH Block, auditorium, night shelter, guest house, hostels and residential facilities.

The Cabinet also gave approval to the implementation of a 'master plan' to convert the Delhi AIIMS into a medical university. The overall plan envisages freeing up adequate space and optimizing the infrastructure of the Institute for the next 20 years. •
