39 MD,MS seats increased in Himachal Pradesh Medical Colleges
Shimla: The Centre has approved 39 additional Post Graduate seats (MD/MS) in the state run Indira Gandhi Medical College (INMC) and Dr R P Medical College, Tanda (Kangra), in Himachal Pradesh.
The seats have been increased following decision of the Union health ministry to allow one professor to have three PG students against two at present and Associate professor, two students instead of one at present.
A spokesperson of the state health department said here today that permission had been granted to increase 31 seats in IGMC Shimla and 8 seats in Tanda medical college for the academic year 2017-18.
Earlier, the Director Medical College had sent the faculty position in INMC and Tanda medical to the ministry.
The Centre has approved over 4,000 Post Graduate seats in medical colleges and hospitals across the country for the academic session 2017-18, Union Health Minister J P Nadda has said on Thursday.
In IGMC, Shimla 31 seats have been increased and seats in MD (General Medicine) have been increased from 9 to 13; MS (General Surgery) from 12 to 15; in MS (Orthopedics) from 5 to 6; in MS (OBG) from 5 to 12; in MS (ENT) from 4 to 5; MD (Radio-diagnosis) from 5 to 14; MD (Anesthesiology) from 12 to 17 and MD (Respiratory Medicine) from 2 to 3.
The eight seats increased in RPGMC (Tanda) included one seat in MD (Pediatrics), three seats in MS (Orthopedics) and four seats in MD (Anesthesiology).
