3 from Bihar arrested in TS EAMCET paper leak case

Three persons from Bihar, including a bank employee and a government veterinary doctor, were today arrested by Telangana CID in connection with the medical entrance exam question paper leak case.

In a statement here, CID gave their names as Ajay Kumar Sinha, Shrutikesh Kumar and Rajesh Kumar. Efforts were on to apprehend the other accused.

The Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET-II) was conducted on July 9 by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabadand the results were declared on July 14.

On July 25, CID had registered a case under relevant sections of IPC and other provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Malpractices and Unfair means) Act, 1997 (which also covers Telangana post-division).

The probe revealed that some students appearing for TS EAMCET-II-2016 (Medical) examination from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were taken to camps set up in at least five cities about two to three days prior to the exam.

They were made to practise with the leaked copies of two question papers comprising 320 questions with correct answers, the CID had said.

According to the statement, Shrutikesh, a government veterinary doctor at Ghoshwari Village in Patna district, allegedly gathered seven students through his agents and sent them for a "preparation camp" at Dharmatalla of Kolkata (ahead of the test).

Sinha, a realtor, gathered seven students through his agent Rajesh Kumar and another four students through one Dharmender and sent them to the camp at Dharmatalla.

Rajesh, employee of a PSU bank at Bihar Sharif, also allegedly got seven students through his contacts and handed them over to Sinha, it added.
