Kanpur: Presumably depressed for the last few days, a 21-year-old first-year MBBS student at Saraswati Medical College, Unnao allegedly committed suicide by hanging to a ceiling fan at his medical college campus hostel room.

As informed by his batchmates, the MBBS student had allegedly engaged into a brawl at the medical college with other MBBS students. It is not sure as to why the MBBS student resorted to this drastic step of committing suicide, but the scuffle is reported to have been an angle to the case.

The unfortunate incident took place on May 5, 2019. According to a recent report by Amar Ujala, on that day, the MBBS student's mother called him several times but he didn't pick up. Then, the mother called the warden and requested to check upon the MBBS student.

The warden found the medico's room locked from inside. On this, he dialled his number several times, noting that the bell was ringing but no response was coming up; he informed the police.

After reaching the hostel room, the police broke open the door and found the corpse of the medical student hanging to the ceiling fan, reports Amar Ujala.

It has been reported that when the police officials entered the room, they found all the stuff of the medical student scattered across the place.

During the preliminary investigations, no suicide note was found from his room. Soharamu Police officials said that other students have informed that the medical student was in depression for many days. The police did not find anything suspicious in CCTV cameras.

Certain Police sources informed TOI, "His batchmates told us about a scuffle which the MBBS student had with a group of other students of the medical college on April 25. We will investigate the case from all angles to know the cause of his death".
