PG NEET Update: Admissions to CPS courses will be through NEET PG 2017
Mumbai: Bringing good news for PG aspirants in the state, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Mumbai has come out with the notification announcing that the seats falling in the various hospitals under the state under the CPS, Mumbai will be now filled up with NEET PG.
College of Physicians & Surgeons of Mumbai, India ,offers 10 Fellowships, 15 Diplomas and MCPS degree across various government and private hospitals in Mumbai. In 2015-16, Public Health Department in Maharashtra initiated CPS Diploma Courses at various district level institutes under its jurisdiction in affiliation with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Mumbai. Total 9 courses had been started through institutes recognised by CPS for this purpose. Admission and Counselling process for the enrolment for the same is conducted by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS).
With the Supreme Court Order and the subsquent amendment of the Act by the Union government calling for a common entrance exam for both PG and UG medical courses in the country, it became unclear, what would happen to the seats that are offered by the state public health department on account of these CPS Diploma Courses.
With the relentless pursuit of doctors under the IMA as well as Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors, CPS has now out with the notification bringing the seats in government colleges under the ambit of NEET.
A notification announcing this was also issued by the health department earlier this month regarding the seats covered under DHS -CPS.
Speaking to Medical Dialogues team, Dr Sagar Mundada, former President MARD said "After great efforts by MARD and IMA , finally, CPS seats admission has finally been brought under NEET Pg centralised exam. This is indeed a big victory and step forward for transparency in medical education."
