Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences staff on Dharna since May 12
Jalandhar: The employees of the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) have been on a dharna demanding salary hike and promotions, as per rules, for the four continuous day at the institute. The PIMS dharna has been on since May 12.
PIMS, Staff Association members who met MLA Pragat Singh for the fulfillment of demands of salary hike and promotions did not meet with a satisfactory reply from him. He told the PIMS staff that since the institute had recently been shifted into government supervision, a hike of this nature was not possible, keeping in mind fund paucity.
The AAP leadership- Bholanath, MLA Sukhpal Khaira and Assembly election candidates from Jalandhar Cantt. HS Walia, Dr Amarjit Singh Shahkot, who visited the Dharna activists on campus promised to join from Monday, if their demands met with no action.
The striking activists also met Sonu Dhesi (OSD), CM Punjab yesterday, who assured the staff that their demand for a government take over and the ordering of a high level inquiry into PIMS would be conveyed to the Chief Minister reports Tribune.
