Kerala:Kollam MP follows on recognition of Paripally Medical College

Kollam: The Lodha Committee has called for the files related to the recognition of Paripally Medical College from the Union Ministry of Health (MOH). This has been done due to the petition filed by Kollam, MP, N.K. Premachandran.

In a statement on Friday, Mr. Premchandran revealed that the state government’s application for recognition of Pariapally Medical College was rejected on August 11, because the former was unable to provide an undertaking that the shortcomings pointed at by the Medical Council of India (MCI), would stand corrected. The corrections were supposed to have been made before June 22, the stipulated Supreme Court date of hearing.

Mr. Prem chandran due to the lacunae decided to file a petition to the Lodha Committee asking for granting of recognition to the college, as all formalities had been completed for commencement of college term.

The Kollam MP, suspected a conspiracy on the part of officers of the Health Department against the Paripally Medical College, as a reason for the undertaking not being submitted within stipulated time. He emphasised that once the files from the MOH reached the Lodha Committee, the State government should hand over the task of convincing to a select group of officers, who in turn should convince the committee on the steps taken to rectify the shortcomings.
